Check the website of the Office for External Scholarships & Fellowships Advising to find out more about research and study abroad opportunities (including Fulbright & DAAD fellowships).

Goldwater Scholarship opportunity (a national competitive award). Sophomore and/or juniors involved in research who have a commitment to a research career in mathematics, the natural sciences and/or engineering and are planning to pursue a Ph.D. may want to consider applying for external competitions such as the Barry Goldwater Scholarship. 
Other competitive awards for post graduate study in the U.K. and Ireland include the Churchill, Gates-Cambridge, Marshall, Mitchell and Rhodes Scholarships.
 


Stony Brook and SUNY awards:
Check the Division of Undergraduate Education website to find out more about  the SUNY Chancellor's award for Student Excellence, and the Provost's award.

Check the College of Arts and Sciences website for deadlines (typically March/October)--including 
Edward Guiliano '78, PhD, Global Fellowship Program: Undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences may utilize this award for creative expression, research, and cultural activities for personal development outside of their comfort zone through travel, as p rojects must take place at least 200 miles from the student’s home or the Stony Brook campus. The goal of the Guiliano Global Fellowship program is to give Stony Brook students the opportunity to have a truly enriching, transformational educational experience.
