Research Interests and History
Carlos Colosqui joined the Mechanical Engineering Faculty in the Fall of 2013. His research work involves theoretical, computational, and experimental studies of transport processes in nano/microscale thermo-fluid systems. One of his main interests is in mesoscale interfacial phenomena and novel associated effects in thermo-fluid systems with interfaces that classical continuum-based descriptions fail to describe. His group's research work includes computational modeling using molecular dynamics and mesoscale simulation techniques as well as experimental analysis and micro/nanofabrication. Current applications of his research include microfluidic devices for energy conversion and storage, nanostructured surfaces, and nanoparticle transport at fluid interfaces. Prof. Colosqui is affiliated faculty in the Applied Mathematics & Statistics Department and the DOE-sponsored Energy Frontier Research Center for Mesoscale Transport Properties at Stony Brook University.
