EOP Financial Aid Application Process

In order for the Admissions Office to complete the review of your application to Stony Brook's EOP Program, the Financial Aid Office must first determine your financial eligibility. Class size is limited. Admissions will be reviewing applications until the maximum enrollment is met. However, in order to insure that your application will be considered, promptly return all requested documentation to the Financial Aid Office. Priority is given to applicants from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.

STEP 1: IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

PLEASE REVIEW THE SUNY EOP GUIDELINES TO BE SURE THAT YOU MEET THE MAXIMUM INCOME GUIDELINES FOR THE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM.  If your household size does not meet the required maximum income guidelines, you will not be financially eligible for the EOP Program. Please contact our Admissions Office for further information.

STEP 2: EOP INCOME VERIFICATION:

Students that have been deemed academically eligible for Stony Brook University's Education Opportunity Program (EOP) are moved onto the next phase - economic eligibility. To confirm dependent students' financial eligibility, we need to collect a signed copy of their parent(s) 2022 federal income taxes, as well as the Verification of Supplemental Income Form. Required parent income documentation is based on the FAFSA parent contributor(s). If your parent(s) did not file a 2022 federal income tax return, an IRS Verification of Non-Filing Letter dated on or after October 1, 2023 for each parent contributor must be submitted, as well as the Verification of Supplemental Income Form. Students will receive instructions on how to obtain the non-filing letter as well as instructions on uploading documents on their Stony Brook SOLAR "To Do's".

For students that have indicated they are independent, we will need to collect documentation on their independent status, a signed copy of their 2022 federal income taxes (if filed) and the Verification of Supplemental Income Form. Students will receive a "To Do" notification on SOLAR with instructions to upload their documentation.

Please DO NOT submit any documents to our office unless specifically requested.

Students should file their FAFSA as soon as possible and include Stony Brook's school code 002838. Students ineligible to complete a FAFSA due to their citizenship status will not be eligible for federal financial aid but will still be considered for EOP.
