Student Spotlight
Stella Di Cocco is a member of the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Honors program and graduating senior. A woman of many talents, Di Cocco has plenty to be proud of, including being a member of the Society of Women Engineers, the program coordinator of Theta Phi Alpha and President of the Stony Brook Ballroom Team.

Researcher Spotlight
Associate Professor Thomas Cubaud, Ph D., previously worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the University of California before joining Stony Brook’s Mechanical Engineering Department in 2007. His research areas include fluid dynamics and miniaturization and he is particularly interested in multiphase flows and hydrodynamic instabilities at the small-scale.
Student Clubs and Activities
Freshman Design Innovation
Freshman design and build autonmous machines and robots.
Solar Racing
Student engineers work together to design, build, and test a carbon fiber solar-powered boat. The team won first place in 2014.
Motorsports
The SBU motorsports team, founded in 1987, competes every year at the Baja SAE competition. Students build and design their own off road vehicles. The team has won several awards throughout the years.
ASME Student Chapter
The ASME Stony Brook Student Chapter strive to help students develop themselves professionally
and to familiarize students with the engineering industry by providing opportunities.
