Amanda Flanagan 

Amanda Flanagan (Mandy) serves as the Department Manager for Mechanical Engineering, where she oversees all departmental business operations. She previously held the role of Undergraduate Program Coordinator for the department from 2017 to 2020. Amanda holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Science in Advertising (BS) from Quinnipiac University. While pursuing her graduate studies, she began her career in higher education with the Career Services office. Upon returning to Long Island in 2011, Amanda worked as a Career Advisor, guiding students pursuing vocational education in the healthcare field before joining SBU.

Amanda is deeply engaged in the Stony Brook University community. She serves as a Professional Delegate with the United University Professions (UUP), is an active member of the University Senate, and participates on multiple committees at the department, college, and university levels. Additionally, she has volunteered as a transfer-student orientation advisor in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS), taught the First Year Seminar class for the Information and Technology Studies (ITS) division of the Undergraduate Colleges, and contributed to the University's vision and Strategic Plan. In 2025, she received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service. Notably, Amanda is the founding Site Director of the UUP FAST Fund at Stony Brook University, a 501(c)(3) charity organization that provides emergency funding to undergraduates facing unexpected financial hardships.
